Explore the North West Edinburgh Loop
Location: Murrayfield, Scotland
This nearly 20 km circuit explores the north-west of Edinburgh, offering a mostly paved run with only short off-road sections. Climbing is spread around the loop, totalling around 100 metres of ascent, with descents concentrated in one part of the circuit.
The route takes in residential areas like Blackhall and Trinity, passing close to the former sites of Granton Road railway station and Craigleith railway station, and skirting Inverleith Sports Ground. You'll also run near Cargilfield Preparatory School. Much of the running is on quiet lanes and residential streets, with stretches along the coastline providing open views across the Firth of Forth.
The overall feel is gently undulating, with the low elevation changes making for a consistent pace throughout.
