Welcome to Skamper. By accessing or using the Skamper website you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Who we are

The Skamper website is operated by Skamper Limited, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC742632, with its registered office at 5/12 Donaldson Crescent, Edinburgh, EH12 5FB.

Your account

When you create an account you must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can close and delete your account at any time from the account menu.

Running safely — your responsibility

Skamper provides route information for guidance only. You are entirely responsible for your own safety while running, including: assessing your fitness, checking weather and trail conditions, complying with local access rules and laws, carrying appropriate equipment, and choosing whether a route is suitable for you. We do not guarantee the accuracy, safety or current condition of any route shown on Skamper. Please bear in mind that trail conditions can change and users must make their own safety decisions on the trail.

User content

When you submit reviews, ratings, photographs or other content to Skamper you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display and share that content as part of the service. You must own the rights to content you submit and not submit anything unlawful, defamatory, offensive or that infringes other people's rights. We may remove content at our discretion.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, other accounts, or our infrastructure.
  • Scrape, copy or redistribute Skamper data without our written permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the service.
  • Send spam, create harmful content or spread misinformation.
  • The consequences of misconduct will be immediate suspension/termination of your use of the service.

Intellectual property

All Skamper branding, content, route databases, software and design are the property of Skamper Limited or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Personal, non-commercial use of the service is permitted within these terms.

Privacy

Your use of Skamper is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Third-party services and links

Skamper may link to or rely on third-party services (for example mapping providers and authentication providers). We are not responsible for the content or practices of those third parties.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Skamper is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skamper Limited disclaims all warranties, express or implied. We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss or injury arising from your use of routes or information provided through the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Service availability

From time to time it may be necessary to perform maintenance on the website and we reserve the right to take the website offline, perform maintenance or discontinue features.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and continued use of the service after a change signifies acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.
