Explore the Padstow Camel 5

Location: Padstow, England

This is a 5.0 km out-and-back that uses the first section of the Camel Trail starting in Padstow. The surface is mostly a firm, compact stone trail with some paved sections, so your standard road shoes will be fine. With an official total ascent of zero metres, the route is completely flat, making it a reliable option for a tempo effort or a straightforward leg-stretcher where you don't have to think about hills.

The course runs directly alongside the Camel estuary. You head out for 2.5 km with the water on your left, turn at the marked point, and then retrace your steps with the water on your right. It’s a multi-use path, so you will be sharing it with walkers and cyclists. The trail can get quite congested, particularly on weekends or during holiday periods, so you may have to moderate your pace or plan for an early run to avoid the crowds.

Because there are no turns or gradients to manage, it's a simple run to navigate. The local Parkrun uses this exact course, so it is a measured and well-established route. It’s a good choice if you want to test your 5k time on a predictable, flat surface, or just want an easy run where a view of the water helps the kilometres pass by.
