This section of the John Muir Way offers an engaging journey from Queensferry to Edinburgh, showcasing a blend of coastal scenery and urban exploration. Starting with iconic views of the Forth Bridges, the route follows the Firth of Forth past grand estates and through charming villages. As you approach Edinburgh, the terrain transitions to suburban paths and green spaces, offering a peaceful approach to the city.
The final stretch along the Union Canal provides a serene, flat run into Fountainbridge, right in the heart of Edinburgh. Largely paved and with minimal ascent, this 22.9 km route is ideal for long training runs, exploring varied landscapes, or an active day out for those who enjoy a mix of natural beauty and cityscapes.
