Explore the Avenham river loop
Location: Avenham, Lancashire
This short circular route in Avenham offers a gently undulating run of just under 4 km, with around 10 metres of climbing concentrated in one part of the loop. The circuit follows the River Ribble for much of its length, running along the Ribble Way and part of the Preston Guild Wheel.
Underfoot, expect a mix of paved surfaces and off-road paths, leaning towards pavement for roughly two-thirds of the distance. The route takes you through Avenham Park, a Grade II* listed public park, and passes close to Penwortham Old Bridge. It's a relaxed run along the river, with the climbing spread around the loop.
