Explore the Heddon on the Wall River Loop
Location: Heddon-on-the-Wall, Northumberland
This loop offers just over 5 km of running around Heddon-on-the-Wall, with around 130m of climbing spread throughout. The ground is roughly two-thirds on pavement, with the rest on trail or path, making for a mix of quiet lanes and off-road sections.
The circuit takes in a stretch of the Hadrian's Wall Path, running alongside the River Tyne for a time before heading inland. Expect one main climb of around 120m and a similar descent as the route winds through the landscape. You'll pass Close House, with its golf club and historic mansion, and skirt the edge of Heddon-on-the-Wall itself. It's a gently undulating run with a good blend of surfaces.
