Explore the Broughton-in-Furness and Broughton Mills
Location: Broughton West, Westmorland and Furness
This circular route from Broughton-in-Furness offers a taste of the Lake District's southern fringes, covering about 8 km with around 190 metres of climbing. The running is almost entirely off-road, with only short paved sections linking the trails.
The initial section involves a sustained climb of about 110 metres, taking you up towards Broughton Mills. After this early effort, the ground levels out before a significant descent of roughly 100 metres in the middle of the run. The circuit then winds back towards Broughton, with the remaining descents spread evenly throughout the latter half.
Expect a mix of woodland trails, open tracks, and quiet lanes as you explore the area around Broughton West. It's a good option for a moderately hilly trail run with plenty of variety underfoot.
