Location: Middleton Cheney, England

This 7.0 km out-and-back run from Middleton Cheney is entirely off-road, following a section of the Millennium Way path across farm fields. Given it's 100% on grass and dirt tracks, which can be indistinct and uneven, road shoes will struggle; you’ll want proper trail shoes for this one. After wet weather, expect muddy sections, particularly around gates where the ground gets churned up.

The route profile is simple: you run out to a high point and then return the same way. With only 46 metres of total ascent, the climb is very gradual. You'll feel a steady, low-grade incline on the first half out to the turnaround at Thenford Hill Farm, but it’s more of a gentle drag than a proper hill. The return leg is consequently a slight downhill, allowing you to open up your stride if you have anything left in the tank.

Starting in Middleton Cheney, the route quickly takes you into open agricultural land. Navigation is mostly a case of following the Millennium Way markers, but be prepared for the track to become faint or even disappear completely in places as it crosses cultivated fields. The high point and turnaround is at Thenford Hill Farm, which provides wide views over the area. From there, you just retrace your steps to get back to the start.
