Explore the Purston Fields
Location: Middleton Cheney, England
This is an anticlockwise loop of just under 10km, with around 85% of the distance being on off-road footpaths. You’ll be running primarily on grassy tracks and across farm fields between Middleton Cheney and Great Purston. Be aware that the ground is consistently uneven, and the path can be faint in some sections, so you will need to keep an eye on your footing and navigation.
The 95m of total ascent is spread across rolling terrain rather than any steep, sustained climbs. Most of the climbing is concentrated in the southern part of the loop. The main challenge comes from the surface itself; the mix of rough tracks and soft earth can make it difficult to maintain a steady pace. In wet weather, expect very muddy and slippery sections where trail shoes are essential for grip.
As a circular route, it's possible to start at various points on the loop. The run takes you through an open, working agricultural landscape, with wide views across the countryside as you gain height. This is a proper cross-country style run that requires concentration, as the path isn't always clearly defined on the ground. You'll need to adapt to changing underfoot conditions throughout.
