Explore the John Muir Way Stage 3

Location: Stirling, Scotland

Embark on a tranquil 21km journey along Stage 3 of the John Muir Way through Stirling, Scotland. This largely flat and paved route, predominantly following the Strathblane Railway Path and Forth and Union Canal, offers a smooth and consistent surface ideal for focused training runs or clocking up the mileage. While long stretches are designed for convenience, the scenery gradually unfolds, offering increasingly engaging vistas.

Towards the latter part of the run, the landscape becomes more varied and historically rich. You'll skirt the edges of the Dullatur Marsh, a significant wildlife habitat, and ascend Castle Hill, passing sections of the iconic Antonine Wall – a UNESCO World Heritage site. This stage suits runners seeking a largely traffic-free, flat course for paced training, with interesting historical and natural landmarks providing welcome points of interest towards the finish in Croy.

Perfect if you want to do the JMW but otherwise not so interesting. 18km on railway and canal path then over a hill at the end. Tempting cheat for those racing!
