Explore the Gunthorpe - Lancaster Memorial
Location: Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire
From the River Car Park. This out-and-back route follows the River Trent from Gunthorpe towards Hoveringham, offering a flat and straightforward run on a mix of riverside paths and quiet tracks. Near Hoveringham, the route links through surrounding farmland before returning to the river and retracing the same riverside path back to Gunthorpe. With minimal climbing and long uninterrupted sections, it’s well suited to steady-paced running while enjoying the open views across the Trent valley.
Just before the route leaves the river on the outward leg, you’ll pass the Lancaster Bomber Memorial, which commemorates the crew of a Royal Air Force Lancaster that crashed nearby during the Second World War on 12 January 1945.
