Explore the Giggleswick Clockwise Road Loop

Location: Giggleswick, England

This is a 6.3km clockwise loop entirely on paved country lanes, so road shoes will be fine whatever the weather. It works well as a standard training circuit, with predictable footing and minimal navigation. As it’s a simple loop, you can start from any point along the route, though the profile makes most sense if you begin in Giggleswick itself.

The 71m of total ascent feels gently rolling overall. Run clockwise, the first couple of kilometres along Raines Road and Brackenber Lane are mostly flat, letting you get into a rhythm. The main work of the run is concentrated in the middle section on Paley Green Lane, which contains the bulk of the climb. It’s not severe, but it’s a sustained effort that you’ll feel in your legs. Once you're over the top, the profile eases.

The final third of the run is a reward for the earlier climb. You get a long, gentle descent along Craven Bank Road that lets you open your stride for the finish. You're out in open countryside for most of it, on quiet lanes running between fields and stone walls. Keep an eye out for occasional farm traffic, but otherwise it’s a straightforward road run.
