Explore the River Avon Trail - Ham to Miles Dock
Location: Easton in Gordano, North Somerset
This out-and-back route follows the River Avon Trail in Easton in Gordano, offering a mostly off-road run alongside the river. The ground underfoot is a mix of trail and path, with occasional paved sections making up about 20% of the distance.
Starting out, you'll find a gentle downhill stretch for the first kilometre or so, running close to the Chapel Pill stream and the River Avon itself. The trail then flattens out for a long section, with the River Avon remaining a constant companion as you head towards the turnaround point. You'll pass by Horseshoe Bend and Ham Green Lake, with the Grotto viewpoint just off the route.
The return journey retraces your steps, bringing a steady, gradual climb of around 20 metres spread over the final 1.5 km back to the start. This is a relatively flat and flowing run, ideal for a steady pace along the river.
