Explore the Meanwood Valley
Location: Leeds, England
This 5.9 km route is a lollipop shape, starting and finishing in Meanwood Park. The surface is mostly unpaved trail, with about three-quarters of the run on woodland paths and the remainder on paved sections. It works well as an accessible off-road session that doesn't require a long drive out of Leeds.
With only 64 metres of total ascent, the course feels gently rolling rather than hilly. You will not face any single significant climb, just a constant series of small rises and falls that keep the legs working. The footing varies between firm-packed earth and softer ground, especially in the sections that run close to Meanwood Beck. After wet weather, expect mud; trail shoes are a sensible choice for grip.
You’ll follow the Meanwood Valley Trail out from the park, run a short loop through the woods, and then return along the same path you came out on. The route alternates between enclosed woodland and more open areas. It’s a straightforward course for getting in some trail mileage without requiring complex navigation.
