Explore the Chevin Country Park
Location: Otley, England
This 4km route is a single clockwise loop entirely within Chevin Country Park. As it's entirely off-road and follows the local parkrun course, it’s a good option for a weekly timed effort or a short, sharp trail session. The surface is a mix of compacted dirt paths through the woods and some open grassy sections. For this reason, you’ll want trail shoes, especially after any rain which will make the grass and exposed roots quite slippery underfoot.
The 67m of total ascent is spread across the route, so you'll feel it as consistently rolling rather than one big climb. The first half of the loop contains a few steady inclines that will get you working, mostly under the cover of the trees. These are balanced out by faster, more flowing downhill parts on the latter half, particularly through the more open areas where you can lengthen your stride if the ground is firm enough.
Because it's a simple loop, you can start from any of the main access points into the park. The course is well-trodden and generally easy to follow. It’s a solid training run that combines some minor technicality with faster sections. The mix of woodland and open ground keeps the footing varied, requiring you to stay switched on. If you want more distance, it's straightforward to add a second lap.
