Explore the East Bramhope Cross Country Loop

Location: Bramhope, England

This 7.7 km clockwise loop east of Bramhope offers a classic cross-country style run. The route is approximately 80% unpaved, linking public footpaths through farmland with a short section on village roads. As a single loop with no fixed start, you can join it from various points in Bramhope, which makes it a convenient option for a local training run. The footing is a simple mix of grassy field edges, compacted dirt tracks, and some brief tarmac.

The established route follows the Ebor Way eastwards out of the village, crossing open fields on its way towards Bank Side Farm. From there, you’ll pick up the Dales Way Link to head south, passing Brookland Farm before the paths turn west for the return leg. The final section brings you back through a residential part of Bramhope to complete the circuit, giving you a short stretch of predictable pavement underfoot before you finish.

With only 70 metres of total ascent, the course feels mostly flat with just a few gentle, rolling inclines that you'll barely register. The main variable is the ground condition. After rain, the grassy and dirt path sections through the fields can become soft and hold water, so trail shoes are the most reliable choice for grip. In a prolonged dry spell you could manage in road shoes, but expect to be slowed by the rougher ground in places.
