Explore the Gregson Lane - Hoghton Loop
Location: Gregson Lane, England
This 6.2km circuit traces the quiet country lanes between Gregson Lane and Hoghton. It’s a straightforward anticlockwise loop that’s almost entirely on tarmac, so you can join it at any point that suits. The surface is predictable and firm underfoot, meaning your normal road shoes will be fine. The small unpaved section is short and won't cause any issues, even after rain.
With only 54 metres of total gain, the route profile is best described as gently rolling. You won't face any long drags or steep ramps; instead, the undulations are gradual and distributed throughout the run. This makes it a good option if you want to hold a consistent pace for a tempo session, or for a measured training run where you don't have to think too much about your footing.
The route takes you through the area of Jack Green and gives you a good look at the surrounding agricultural landscape. Expect to be running alongside open fields and meadows for most of the way, with a few short stretches passing through patches of woodland. It’s a classic Lancashire lane run, using the existing road network for a simple circuit without any technical sections or navigation challenges.
