Explore the Warsaw River 5
Location: Warszaw, Poland
This is a dead-flat, 5.0 km out-and-back run on a wide pavement beside the Vistula River. The surface is 100% paved, meaning road shoes are suitable in all conditions. Its simple format makes it a practical choice for a tempo session or any run where you want to hold a consistent pace without thinking about navigation. The path is popular with walkers and cyclists, so you can expect to be sharing the space, particularly during evenings and on weekends.
The route starts on the riverfront path near a cafe. From there, you just follow the path with the river to one side. The turnaround is at the 2.5 km mark, an obvious point indicated by a flower bed where you can pivot and begin the return leg. The total ascent is zero metres, which is exactly how it feels underfoot – a completely level surface with no unexpected gradients to break your rhythm from start to finish.
Your view for the duration is the river on one side and some of the city's green areas on the other. Because it’s a straightforward out-and-back, the return leg is a direct reverse of what you’ve just run. It’s a functional urban route that gives you a guaranteed, traffic-free five kilometres in the city. The finish is back at the cafe where you set off.
