This 5.2km double-loop offers a refreshing escape through the eastern edge of London, blending the manicured greens of Harold Wood Park with the burgeoning woodland of Pages Wood. With a negligible 23m of ascent and a predominantly paved surface (5.0km), this course is exceptionally flat and fast, making it an ideal choice for a tempo run or a relaxed recovery jog. Runners will enjoy a scenic stretch alongside the River Ingrebourne as they navigate Section 22 of the London Loop, providing a tranquil waterside backdrop that feels far removed from the city's hustle.
Steeped in local character, Harold Wood Park and the adjacent Pages Wood form a vital part of the Thames Chase Community Forest. While Harold Wood Park has long served as a recreational hub for the Romford community, Pages Wood is a relatively new addition, having been transformed from agricultural land into a thriving habitat with over 100,000 trees. As you cruise along the well-maintained paths, look out for local birdlife and the distinctive wooden sculptures that dot the landscape, all while following the historic footsteps of the London Loop—a 150-mile "M25 for walkers and runners" that encircles the capital.
