This 6.1km circuit at Rouken Glen Park offers a refreshing mix of paved paths and woodland trails, making it a favorite for Thornliebank locals. With a moderate 61m ascent, the route provides enough elevation change to keep things interesting without being punishing. Starting from the main car park, you'll follow the serene Auldhouse Burn toward the boating pond, where the terrain transitions as you loop past the local golf course. The second half of the run takes you along the perimeter of Davieland Road before circling back through the heart of the park, offering a great balance of flat sections for speed and scenic forested stretches for hill work.
Rich in Edwardian history, Rouken Glen was once the estate of the Victorian industrialist Archibald Corbett and was gifted to the people of Glasgow in 1906. As you run, keep an eye out for the spectacular glasshouse and the park's iconic waterfall, which served as a backdrop for the local textile industry centuries ago. The park’s unique landscape is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its ancient woodland profile and dramatic rock formations, providing a lush, green escape just a few miles from the city center. It is a quintessential Scottish park run that captures the natural spirit of East Renfrewshire.
