This 6.1km loop offers a refreshingly flat and accessible run through the heart of Clackmannanshire, connecting the historic town of Alloa with the charming village of Clackmannan. With only 10 meters of total ascent, this route is a "Personal Best" hunter’s dream, featuring long, paved stretches that allow for a consistent, rhythmic pace. Runners can expect a mix of suburban greenery and industrial heritage backdrops, making it an ideal choice for a brisk tempo session or a relaxed recovery jog in the fresh air of Scotland's Central Belt.
Steeped in history, this area was once the industrial powerhouse of the "Wee County," famous for its brewing, glassmaking, and coal mining. As you navigate the loop from Sauchie towards Clackmannan, look out for the iconic Clackmannan Tower perched on King's Seat Hill, a 14th-century stronghold once home to the Bruce family. Running through this landscape provides a unique perspective on the evolution of Clackmannanshire, where modern cycling paths and footways now trace the historic routes that once fueled the Scottish Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution.
