This 4.6km loop through Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park offers Lisburn runners a refreshing blend of manicured garden paths and gently rolling parkland. With a modest 55m of ascent, the course provides a light physical challenge that is manageable for beginners while remaining engaging for seasoned athletes looking for a scenic recovery run. The terrain is entirely paved, making it an excellent all-weather choice for those looking to avoid the Northern Irish mud while enjoying the lush, green surroundings of one of the region's most beloved horticultural spaces.
Steeped in local history, the park was originally part of the Wilmont Estate and was gifted to the people of Belfast in 1959 by Lady Edith Stewart Dixon in memory of her husband. Today, it is world-renowned for the City of Belfast International Rose Trials, which transform the landscape into a riot of color and fragrance every summer. As you navigate the loop, you’ll pass the charming Wilmont House and the commemorative gardens, offering a peaceful backdrop that feels a world away from the nearby urban bustle of Dunmurry and Lisburn.
