Route Overview & Local Insights

Starting from the scenic Stourport Marina, this 7.5km loop offers an exceptionally flat and accessible multi-terrain experience through the heart of the Wyre Forest district. Runners will enjoy a diverse mix of surfaces, with approximately 50% paved paths making it ideal for maintaining a steady rhythm. The route transitions seamlessly from the tranquil canal towpaths to the sandy tracks of the Geopark Way, leading you into the stunning Hartlebury Common Nature Reserve. With only 27 meters of vertical gain, it is a perfect fast-paced session or a recovery jog that finishes with a refreshing stretch alongside the banks of the River Severn.

Hartlebury Common is much more than just a greenspace; it is one of the most important semi-natural habitats in the West Midlands, boasting a rare combination of lowland heath and prehistoric bog land. As you run through this Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), you are following in the footsteps of history—archaeological finds here date back to the Stone Age. The area is also famous for its diverse lepidoptera, so keep an eye out for rare butterflies as you navigate the sandy trails. Ending your run back in Stourport-on-Severn provides the perfect opportunity to explore this unique Georgian "canal town," which was once one of the busiest inland ports in England.
