This 4.2km loop through the Waseley Hills Country Park offers Bromsgrove runners a rewarding blend of rolling hills and panoramic views. Starting from Gannow Green Lane, the route heads anticlockwise, tackling a steady 71m of ascent across well-maintained, paved paths. While the terrain is solid underfoot, don't underestimate the "hilly" rating; the climb as you circumnavigate Holwell and Waseley Hill will certainly get your heart rate up before you are treated to the sweeping descent back from Windmill Hill. It is an ideal distance for a brisk morning blast or a challenging tempo session away from city traffic.
Steeped in local character, the Waseley Hills sit on the edge of the Lickey Hills formation and serve as a vital green lung for the North Worcestershire area. As you crest the peaks of this northern route, you are crossing a historical watershed; the streams on one side flow toward the River Trent, while the other side feeds the Severn. The area is famous for its "Windmill Hill" landmark, which provides a 360-degree vantage point where, on a clear day, you can spot the Malverns and even the peaks of Wales. It’s a favorite spot for local hilltop intervals, offering some of the freshest air and best vistas in the West Midlands.
