Route Overview & Local Insights

This 30.7km loop is a quintessential West Yorkshire endurance challenge, seamlessly connecting the suburban fringes of North Leeds with the rolling greenery of the Wharfe and Aire valleys. With a total ascent of 681m, the course is persistently hilly but remains highly runnable, primarily sticking to well-established paved surfaces and compact trails. Runners will enjoy a diverse journey that transitions from the leafy residential avenues of Horsforth to the expansive views atop Bramhope, before descending toward Guiseley and picking up flatter, rhythm-focused stretches along the canal and woodland corridors. It is an ideal training ground for those eyeing their first ultra-marathon or looking to bank a serious long run on varied terrain.

Steeped in local character, this route traverses areas deeply rooted in Yorkshire's industrial and agricultural history. Bramhope serves as a stunning high point, famous for the nearby Bramhope Tunnel—a Victorian engineering marvel—while the passage through Guiseley brings you close to the birthplace of the world-renowned Harry Ramsden's. As you loop back toward Horsforth, once considered the "largest village in England," you’ll experience the unique blend of grit and greenery that defines Leeds running. Keep an eye out for local wildlife near the wooded fringes and enjoy the distinct shift in atmosphere as you move between the open countryside and the bustling local high streets that provide plenty of opportunities for a post-run brew.
