This 6.5km out-and-back route along the Centurion Way offers a perfectly flat, 100% paved surface that is ideal for runners looking to find their rhythm or chase a new personal best. Starting at the Platinum Jubilee Country Park, the path treats runners to a seamless journey toward the village of Lavant. With only 22 meters of total ascent, this trail is exceptionally accessible for all fitness levels, providing a tree-lined, traffic-free corridor that shields you from the wind while offering a smooth asphalt terrain perfect for tempo runs or a steady recovery jog through the West Sussex countryside.
The Centurion Way is steeped in local history, following the repurposed trackbed of the former Chichester to Midhurst railway line, which closed to passengers in 1935. As you run, you’ll be tracing a path near the site of a Roman road, hence the name "Centurion Way." This section of the path serves as a vital green link between the historic cathedral city of Chichester and the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park. Keep an eye out for interesting sculptures and markers along the route that celebrate the area’s industrial heritage and the natural beauty of the Lavant Valley.
