This 5.4km loop offers a refreshing escape through the green heart of Warwick, balancing urban accessibility with tranquil parkland scenery. Starting from Willes Road, runners enjoy a largely flat and fast course with just 23m of gentle ascent, making it an ideal choice for a tempo session or a relaxed recovery run. The route transitions seamlessly from the paved stretches of Newbold Terrace East into the expansive trails of Newbold Comyn. With approximately 40% of the path paved and the remainder following well-trodden parkland tracks, you can expect a mixed-terrain experience that is easy on the joints while still providing plenty of grip for a steady pace through the St Paul's School Field loop.
Steeped in local history, Newbold Comyn is a cherished 300-acre country park that once served as a traditional Warwickshire farm before being transformed into a public leisure space. As you head anti-clockwise around the Comyn, you are running on land that was once part of the Willes family estate, whose influence is still visible in the surrounding architecture and street names. The area acts as a vital green lung connecting the historic charm of Warwick with the neighboring spa town of Royal Leamington Spa. After finishing your circuit back near Newbold Terrace, you're perfectly positioned to explore the nearby Victorian gardens or grab a post-run coffee in the town center, just stones throw away from the majestic Warwick Castle.
