Embrace the challenge of this 5.3km loop through Leamington’s premier green space, Newbold Comyn. This route is a true tester for those who enjoy variable terrain, trading flat pavement for the rhythmic undulations of grassy trails and rugged paths. Starting near the changing rooms, you’ll find a gentle warm-up around the football pitches before the real work begins. The course earns its "hilly" reputation as you ascend toward the beacon, passing the adrenaline-fueled mountain bike tracks. With 33m of elevation gain concentrated in punchy climbs, joggers and trail runners alike will enjoy the sweeping views of the Warwickshire countryside from the summit before a fast, technical descent back toward the finish.
Newbold Comyn holds a special place in Royal Leamington Spa’s history, having transitioned from a traditional country estate to a multifaceted community hub. Historically used for grazing and later as a prominent municipal golf course, the area has undergone a rewilding transformation that makes it a haven for local biodiversity. When you reach the high point near the beacon, you are standing on one of the best vantage points in the district, offering a panoramic look at the Regency architecture of the town center. After your run, join the local fitness community at the nearby leisure center or head into town to experience the famous spa water heritage that put this area on the map.
