Starting from Stanhope, you'll tackle a persistent 5km climb toward the summit of Collier Law, gaining over 300 meters of elevation throughout the run. The terrain is a classic moorland mix, featuring roughly 25% paved surfaces transitioning into grassy singletrack and rugged trails. Once you crest the summit at over 500 meters, the final 4km is a fast, flowing descent that allows you to open up your stride and enjoy the momentum back toward the finish. Given the exposed nature of the high ground, be prepared for shifting winds and rapid weather changes typical of the Durham Dales.
