This 3.9km circuit offers a concentrated dose of the Surrey Hills' most iconic terrain. Starting from the Whitehill car park, this off-road loop is a favorite for Mole Valley locals looking for a quick, "hilly" challenge. With 116m of ascent packed into a short distance, your legs will certainly feel the climb as you navigate the chalky trails and grassy slopes. The route takes you south past the flint-built Broadwood's Tower before sweeping back through Juniper Top, where the descent offers technical footing and breathtaking views across the valley. It is an ideal distance for a high-intensity trail session or a scenic recovery run on unpaved paths.
Located within the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Box Hill has been a destination for outdoor enthusiasts since the Victorian era. The area is steeped in history; Broadwood's Tower, which you'll pass early in the run, was built in the early 19th century by Thomas Broadwood, a famous piano maker who lived nearby at Juniper Hall. Today, the National Trust manages this landscape to protect its rare orchids and diverse butterfly populations. Running here allows you to follow in the footsteps of the 2012 Olympic cyclists, though these secluded woodland trails offer a far more tranquil experience than the bustling Zig Zag Road nearby.
