Lace up your trail shoes for this refreshing 4.8km loop through Park Hall Country Park, one of Stoke-on-Trent's most diverse natural lunges. Starting from the visitor centre in Weston Coyney, this anticlockwise circuit is entirely off-road, offering a mix of sandy tracks, woodland paths, and heathland trails. While the distance is manageable for intermediate runners, the "hilly" terrain and 45m of ascent provide a fantastic cardiovascular workout. Expect varied underfoot conditions—from firm gravel to soft needles—making it an ideal training ground for those looking to build strength away from the pavement.
Steeped in geological and industrial history, Park Hall Country Park was declared the city's first National Nature Reserve in 2002. As you navigate the loop, you’ll be running through what were once active sandstone quarries, now reclaimed by silver birch trees and purple heather. Keep an eye out for local birdlife and the distinctive red sandstone outcrops that give this area its rugged character. It’s a favorite spot for Weston Coyney locals to escape the urban hum, offering a sense of wilderness and sweeping views across the Potteries that change beautifully with every season.
