Route Overview & Local Insights

Experience the rugged charm of South Staffordshire on this 6.8km loop through Kinver Edge and Kingsford Forest Park. This is a true trail runner's delight, trading pavement for natural forest floors and sandstone paths. With over 100 meters of elevation gain and a "Hilly" rating, you can expect some invigorating climbs that will test your glutes, but the reward is unparalleled. As you push through the wooded sections of Kingsford Forest, the terrain keeps you engaged with its undulating profile, making it an excellent choice for a moderate weekend workout or a scenic mid-week hill session.

Beyond the physical challenge, this route steeped in unique local history. Kinver Edge is famous for its extraordinary Holy Austin Rock Houses—traditional dwellings carved directly into the red sandstone cliffs that were inhabited as recently as the 1950s. As you circle back toward Compton Road, take a moment to soak in the panoramic views across the Stour Valley and even toward the Shropshire Hills on a clear day. This area has long served as a natural "lung" for the Black Country, offering a wild, elevated escape that feels worlds away from the nearby urban centers.
