This 6.6km loop through Ruddington offers a refreshingly flat and accessible route, perfect for runners looking for a consistent tempo or a scenic recovery jog. Starting with an urban stretch through the charming village streets, the course quickly transitions into the lush greenery of Rushcliffe Country Park. With only 8m of total elevation gain, the terrain is exceptionally level, consisting of roughly 30% paved surfaces and well-maintained gravel paths. Runners will experience a seamless blend of village life and natural tranquility, making it a local favorite for its smooth footing and varied landscape.
Ruddington itself is a village steeped in industrial heritage, once famous as a center for the framework knitting industry during the 19th century. As you circle back toward the village, you're running through an area that has transformed from a vital railway junction into the award-winning Rushcliffe Country Park. The park now serves as a crucial green lung for South Nottinghamshire, featuring diverse habitats and restored wetlands. Keep an eye out for local wildlife near the lake—it’s a far cry from the village’s busy textile past and provides a peaceful backdrop for your final kilometers.
