The Skamper Wanderlust Way is an evocative 33.5km circular journey that showcases the quiet beauty of North East Lincolnshire. Starting from Bradley, this route serves as a perfect ultra-training ground or a long-distance challenge for those looking to move beyond the half-marathon distance. While the 181m of total ascent may seem modest, the terrain is characteristically undulating, keeping your legs engaged as you transition between grassy field margins, rugged farm tracks, and serene woodland paths. With approximately 20km of the route paved on quiet country lanes, it offers a fast-rolling rhythm that balances the more technical, muddy stretches found in the heart of the Wolds.
Stepping onto the Wanderlust Way is a step into a "hidden" England. The route was originally named the Bradley 20 to commemorate the 1977 Silver Jubilee before being rebranded to celebrate the spirit of exploration. As you navigate the edges of the Lincolnshire Wolds—an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty—you’ll pass through historic villages like Barnoldby-le-Beck and Ashby cum Fenby, characterized by their limestone cottages and ancient church spires. This landscape, shaped by the last ice age, provides expansive views across the Humber estuary on clear days, offering a sense of scale and solitude that is rare to find on more crowded coastal paths.
