This 5.3km out-and-back route follows the beautifully reclaimed Worsley Railway Path, offering a perfectly flat and 100% paved surface that is ideal for speed work, recovery runs, or beginners looking for a traffic-free environment. Starting in the vibrant village of Monton, you'll head north towards Roe Green on a sun-dappled corridor of green. With only 24m of total ascent, this course is as close to "pancake flat" as it gets in Salford, making it a favorite for local runners aiming to maintain a consistent cadence without the interruption of steep inclines or technical trail footing.
Steeped in industrial heritage, the path follows the former Tyldesley Loopline, a railway track that once hummed with the sound of steam engines transporting coal and passengers during the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, the industrial grit has been replaced by a tranquil wildlife corridor. As you run, look out for the historic bridges and the charming "village green" atmosphere of Roe Green at the turnaround point. After finishing back in Monton, you’re perfectly positioned to enjoy the local "Monton Riviera" cafe culture, a well-earned reward for any Salford runner.
