Experience the raw power of the English Coastline on this punchy 4.1km single loop through the South Downs National Park. Starting from Duke’s Drive, this off-road trail tackles a "Category 4" hill intensity, climbing 117 meters as you transition from the Eastbourne seafront to the dramatic clifftops. The terrain is entirely unpaved, offering a natural feel underfoot that requires careful footwork, especially on the grassier sections. Runners will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the English Channel and the iconic chalk cliffs as they navigate the clockwise circuit back along Beachy Head Road.
Beachy Head is one of the UK’s most legendary landmarks, standing as the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain at 162 meters above sea level. This area of the South Downs has served as a watchful eye over the Channel for centuries, famously featuring in historical maritime navigation and wartime monitoring. As you run, you are traversing a landscape rich in biodiversity and geological history; keep an eye out for the red-and-white striped Beachy Head Lighthouse sitting stoically in the waves below—a sight that has greeted sailors and explorers since it was first lit in 1902.
