This 24.4km adventure through Maker-With-Rame is a masterclass in coastal running, blending long stretches of paved surfaces with the rugged charm of the South West Coast Path. Clocking in with 464m of ascent, runners should prepare for a challenging "hilly" profile that peaks during the steep climb toward the Deer Park. You’ll experience a mix of expansive sea views and sheltered woodland trails, with some technical, narrow sections near the cliffs that require a steady foot. The unique loop includes a strategic "off-the-clock" untimed section at Cremyll, making it perfect for those who want to balance a serious training session with a quick coffee breather by the water.
Steeped in maritime and aristocratic history, this route traverses the stunning Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, the ancestral home of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe. As you run past the hamlet of Empacombe and up toward the Deer Park, you are moving through a landscape designed in the 18th century to impress visitors arriving by sea. The "Narrows" section offers views across the water to Plymouth's historic Royal William Yard, providing a constant visual link between the rural tranquility of the Rame Peninsula (often called Cornwall's "Forgotten Corner") and the bustling naval heritage of the city across the Sound.
