This 11.0km loop offers a fantastic blend of suburban navigation and expansive green space, making it a favorite for Bristol runners looking for variety. Starting in Abbey Wood, the route takes you through the residential streets of Northville before opening up into the vast Stoke Park Estate. With 72 meters of gentle ascent, it provides enough of a challenge to keep your heart rate up without feeling overwhelming. Runners will enjoy a fully paved surface that transitions from university surroundings to the tranquil, flowing scenery along the River Frome, providing a refreshing natural contrast to the urban start.
Stoke Park Estate is one of Bristol's most iconic landmarks, easily recognized by the prominent yellow Dower House that overlooks the M32. As you run through this historic parkland, you are traversing grounds that date back to the 16th century, once part of a grand manor house. The route also offers a unique architectural experience as you pass under the M32 via the underpass, a gritty piece of modern infrastructure that serves as a gateway back into the quiet residential pockets of North Bristol. It’s a route that perfectly captures the city's "green lung" philosophy, connecting bustling hubs like the University of the West of England (UWE) with peaceful riverside paths.
