The Weaver Way Loop offers a refreshingly flat 6.4km escape through the lush landscapes of Meadowbank. Starting from Shaws Lane, this trail-based route leads you directly to the serene Newbridge Pool before flanking the River Weaver. Because the course is entirely unpaved with a negligible 10m of ascent, it is an ideal choice for runners looking for a soft-surface recovery run or those wanting to practice their pacing without the interruption of hills. You will find the terrain underfoot to be a mix of riverside paths and park trails as you head toward Weaver Park, offering a tranquil backdrop that feels miles away from the nearby urban bustle.
Rich in industrial heritage, this area of Meadowbank was once a central hub for salt production and river trade in Cheshire. The Weaver Navigation, which you will follow for much of your run, was engineered in the 18th century to transform the river into a navigable highway for transporting white gold—salt—from the local mines. Today, the industrial chimneys have been replaced by vibrant greenery and active wildlife. As you loop through Weaver Park, keep an eye out for narrowboats navigating the locks, a lingering nod to the waterway’s historical significance to the local community.
