Experience the tranquil charm of the Somerset countryside on this scenic 3.2km loop through Batheaston and Bathampton. This relatively flat, anti-clockwise circuit offers a refreshing mix of terrains, blending well-maintained riverside paths and canal towpaths with paved sections. Runners will enjoy a fast, accessible 11m ascent that makes it perfect for a recovery jog or multiple laps for a longer interval session. Highlights include the rush of the water at Bathampton Weir and the unique experience of navigating a pedestrian level crossing as you traverse the lush Riverside Meadows, providing a diverse backdrop of water, greenery, and local architecture.
The "Seven Bridges" route is steeped in the rich industrial and social history of the Bath valley. Starting near Batheaston, you’ll run across National Trust land that feels worlds away from the city center, following the historic River Avon and the Kennet & Avon Canal. The path takes you past iconic landmarks like the Bathampton Mill and the George Inn—two picturesque pubs that have served travelers for centuries. This area once hummed with the activity of mill workers and narrowboat trade; today, it serves as a peaceful corridor where the Victorian engineering of the Great Western Railway meets the timeless beauty of the Cotswolds' edge.
