This 6.1km out-and-back route from Tenby’s North Beach Car Park offers an exhilarating challenge for runners who crave rugged coastal beauty. With nearly 190m of ascent packed into a relatively short distance, stay light on your feet as you navigate a mix of paved sections and technical trail. The path toward the telecommunications tower features narrow, root-heavy segments that require sharp focus, especially where the trail skirts exposed drops. It’s a hilly "Category 4" effort that rewards your lungs with salty Atlantic air and some of the most dramatic clifftop views in Pembrokeshire, making every climb feel well worth the burn.
Tenby, or "Dinbych-y-pysgod" in Welsh (meaning Little Fortress of the Fish), is steeped in a rich seafaring history that predates its reputation as a premier Victorian seaside resort. As you run along the coastline, you’re traversing ancient paths that once served as lookouts for the town’s medieval walled defenses. The area is a centerpiece of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and looking back toward the town, you'll see the iconic pastel-colored houses lining the harbor—a view that has inspired countless artists. Running here connects you to the raw, untamed spirit of the Welsh coast, far beyond the bustling sandy beaches and ice cream shops below.
