Route Overview & Local Insights

This 4.7km loop offers a refreshing blast of coastal air as you navigate the paved paths and gentle inclines of Milford Haven. Starting behind the Marina, you’ll head east toward Pier Road, soaking in the views of the deep-water harbor—one of the largest in the world. With an ascent of 36m, the route is classified as slightly hilly, providing just enough resistance to keep your heart rate up without feeling like a mountain climb. Expect a firm underfoot experience with 90% paved surfaces, making it an excellent choice for a tempo run or a scenic recovery jog where the maritime scenery takes center stage.

Hakin and Milford Haven are steeped in a rich tapestry of maritime history, originally established by Quakers from Nantucket as a whaling station in the 18th century. As you cross Nelson Quay, you are running through what was once the nerve center of the UK’s fishing industry, now transformed into a vibrant waterfront destination. Local runners know that the bend at Pier Road offers some of the best vantage points to watch the coming and going of vessels against the backdrop of the Pembrokeshire coastline. After finishing your loop, the area’s local cafés offer the perfect spot for a post-run coffee with a view of the sailboats.
