Experience the refreshing Irish Sea breeze on this flat and fast 8.8km loop starting from Ffrith Beach. This route is a runner's dream for those looking for a predictable, high-quality surface, as 75% of the course is paved. You'll glide along the North Wales Path toward Barkby Beach, enjoying wide-open coastal views and a total absence of hills. The middle section takes you on a scenic circumnavigation of the lush Prestatyn Golf Club, offering a pleasant transition from the sea wall to the greens before you double back to the start. It is an ideal distance for a sustained tempo run or a relaxed weekend recovery session.
Prestatyn marks the famous northern terminus of the Offa's Dyke Path, a historic national trail, but this seafront run offers a much gentler challenge than the steep Clwydian Range nearby. As you pass the Prestatyn Golf Club, you are running alongside one of the oldest championship links courses in Wales, established in 1905. The area is steeped in Roman history, as St Asaph and the surrounding Denbighshire coastline served as vital locations for early settlers. Today, the promenade remains a vibrant hub for the local running community, beloved for its expansive horizons and the rhythmic sound of waves that accompany every kilometer.
