Description

This run begins with a steady climb up towards Easedale Tarn. The ascent is a mix of tarmac and well-trodden paths, gradually giving way to rougher, rockier terrain. As you climb, the path becomes steeper, offering views back towards Grasmere and the surrounding fells. Reaching Easedale Tarn, you're rewarded with a tranquil expanse of water nestled in a natural amphitheater, a perfect spot to catch your breath. From the tarn, the route continues across undulating ground towards Stythwaite Steps, a mix of grassy paths and rocky sections. This part of the run is more remote, with fewer people, allowing you to immerse yourself in the solitude of the fells. The descent via High Easdale is a gradual one, taking you along a well-defined path that follows the cascading Sourmilk Gill, a reminder of the area's dramatic weather. The return to Grasmere offers a more relaxed pace, with the steep climbs behind you. The final stretch along Easedale Road provides a gentle cool-down, bringing you back to the start point, having experienced a classic Lakeland fell run with a mix of challenging climbs, serene tarns, and rugged paths.
